Mission
These are two of the stories of how churches in Eastern Oregon are involved in Christ's mission.
MISSION STORIES
Halfway: Mission funding have been ongoing for over 100 years. A ten-year support plan was enacted by the church. This year a letter will be sent saying thank you for the previous years of support but now the church can operate without them. Jacob’ Dream – a mission store and outreach to the Halfway. The store is changing hands to Pine Valley Presbyterian Church (Halfway). The store includes a job program for high school students. The store generates $100.000.00 income and has 7-10 full-time employees. It operates on a $70.000.00 budget. Money of Jacob’s Dream does not come into the General Budget of Pine Valley Presbyterian Church. Funds are raised by fund raisers (50%) and donations (50%). Donations have been sent to India. Local families and agencies have been assisted to Halfway. Painting House project – provides opportunity for high school students to be employed and donations are received from the projects.
Hermiston: EOP’s New Church Development. They are currently in a partnership with an Hispanic Congregation using the church for worship. The church participates in the following mission: Medical Benevolence Fund, Angel Tree, Habitat for Humanity, Agape House, local outreach, domestic violence, and a taxi service.
